Senior Software Engineer - Backend - Multi-Product Platform (Customer Journey)
About the Role
Abnormal AI is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Multi-Product Platform (MPP) organization, which owns the product platform enabling scalable, consistent product development across our enterprise product suite. This role sits on the Customer Journey team, focused on optimizing how customers onboard and start using Abnormal’s products — building systems that streamline the onboarding and proof-of-value (POV) experience, reducing manual steps, and accelerating time-to-value. The ideal candidate is a full-stack feature lead who thrives on cross-functional collaboration and is motivated to directly impact customer experience from day one.
What you will do
- Build and iterate on product offerings, APIs, platforms, frameworks, and tools
- Design, develop, and maintain feature buildouts to support a world-class user experience for our customers
- Ensure system stability and reliability; participate in regular code and design reviews and team on-call rotation
- Write code with testability, readability, edge cases, and error handling in mind; write and review technical design documents
- Communicate effectively in an async manner with team members to share updates, discuss challenges, and propose solutions
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers; take ownership of projects and drive positive impact across teams
- Participate in team roadmap discussions, contribute to long-term planning, and actively share knowledge within the team
Must Haves
- 7+ years of industry experience as a Software Engineer with strong software engineering fundamentals
- Proven ability to own and drive complex systems end-to-end, with strong knowledge of team-owned services and the ability to collaborate and influence cross-team goals and roadmaps
- Strong experience writing production Python code and working with Postgres databases
- Solid experience in system design and building resilient, scalable applications with an emphasis on operational excellence
- Strong understanding of service health, monitoring, fault tolerance, and incident response practices
- Detail-oriented with a focus on code quality, testing, and performance; able to make practical trade-offs and lead adoption of technical design documents
- Strong communication and mentorship skills with proven ability to work autonomously and asynchronously with remote collaborators and stakeholders
- Growth-oriented with a desire to increase impact, responsibility, and ownership over time
Nice to Have
- Experience with Golang and Airflow orchestration
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools such as ChatGPT, Cursor, or similar GenAI tools
